The marketing side of advertising research is always new and changing. I’m always learning and trying to improve my skills, but I never stop learning. I’m constantly amazed and always looking to grow as an advertiser, so I am always thinking about the next ways I can leverage my knowledge.
I get asked, not just about advertising research, but about what to do when you don’t have time to research on your own or how to get more information from others. I have found that many of the questions I get asked (like, “what are the best blogs for marketing research?”) seem to have answers that are so complex they are hard to find. While there is a ton of good advice out there, sometimes there is no easy answer.
I’ve had to say for a long time that I find the hardest part of writing for business is figuring out what the right answer is. Like, you can write a million things and it doesn’t matter, the content is the same. But if you can’t figure out a way to make it easy for everyone to read it because it’s too complicated, you’re gonna have a tough time.
I recently had an email come in from a client and the subject line read: “I need a business plan”. I looked it over and realized that its not about the business plan, its about the marketing research. It’s like, “oh, I need an idea, I dont need the actual plan, just a hook for my story”. It’s like the marketing research was the hook and the story was the business plan.
I guess this is the reason that the marketing research is called “marketing research,” we all need it. A lot of small business owners just don’t know how to handle it. No one wants to read a book about marketing, but they want ideas about how to use marketing to help their business succeed. In this case, I think marketing research is an easy way to get someone to buy from you.
I wish I had heard of this before. I can’t imagine how anyone would go through this with a blog. It’s like, “I found another great blog about marketing, you should totally read it. I’ll send you a link.” The problem is that to get the blog back, the author has to send the link back to you.
The problem with this is that it can be hard to get back a blog you’ve lost. Even if you have a page that you have a backlink to, it can’t get you back to the blog unless you also have the blog URL. The author of the blog is also the author of the blog. So what’s the point? It sounds a little ridiculous that this wouldn’t be a great idea, but in many ways it’s not.
I know, right? It is ridiculous. I don’t want to be the person who has to send the link back. However, I have a good excuse for that. When I have an annoying blog that I can’t get back to because I have a link, I just delete the blog and start over. I would much rather have someone else do that for me.
A good example of a blog that has been deleted and started over is my old one ( I deleted it as soon as I found it, but I’ve completely re-created it and changed the way the links are put in it. I’m not even going to mention the blog, but here’s what I did. I started over and edited the links so they are unique.
